How does a mail gateway work?
A mail gateway works in 3 steps: 1) Your DNS MX records are pointed to the mail gateway server, 2) All emails pass through the gateway and undergo multi-layered security scanning (spam scoring, virus scanning, phishing check, content analysis), 3) Clean emails are forwarded to your server, threats are quarantined or rejected.
